7 Hours

I'm not sure if you have heard yet or not, but the Pirates and Braves played a 19 inning, 7 hour game last night. First off, damn! How can you not score a run before 19th inning?!? Anyways, this game ended with an absolutely BLOWN call by the home plate umpire. And when I say BLOWN, I mean this call could have been made correctly by the 14-year-old umpire at your local Little League game.

Terrible. I'm surprised Clint Hurdle didn't make that umpire actually blind. I would have thrown dirt in his eyes. Then again, it was 2 am after the game started at 7 pm, so Hurdle was probably exhausted. Everyone was tired, yes, and everyone wanted to just go home, yes, but come on man!  If there hasn't been a greater argument for an expanded instant replay, there may never be.

I also want to point out how good of a manager Hurdle is. A few years ago, he turned the Rockies organization around (they still are reaping the benefits from his efforts), but the Rockies then, mysteriously to me, fired him only 2 years after he led the Rockies to the world series. He is now the Pirates manager and has completely turned that franchise around. Who would of known that, at the end of July, they would be on top of the NL Central along with the Brewers, Cardinals, and Reds.

I am a hardcore Brewer fan, but you have to give credit where credit is due. Nice Job Clint, but hopefully the Crew can win the division this year. But....we will save that discussion for another day.

Until next time....when you've said Wisconsin...
